Meet Crystal

Congratulations to Crystal R., a GHA resident – and most recently a graduate of the Hall County Treatment Court.

At the graduation ceremony on June 18, 2014, Crystal told attendees that she’d seen her life fall apart because of substance abuse, and that she “was tired of continuously staring over.” She came to live in the GHA 14 months ago while new in the Family Treatment Court (FTC). Being housed at the GHA allowed her to keep her child while she worked things out, she said.

Crystal recounted her journey through addiction and into sobriety and said she was now a “woman of substance, and no longer a substance abuser.”
The FTC is an alternative to regular dependency court designed to improve the safety and wellbeing of children in the dependency system by providing parents access to drug and alcohol treatment, judicial monitoring of their sobriety and individualized services to support the entire family.
The Gainesville Housing Authority works in tandem with the FTC to help program participants locate housing while they attend the program.
Congratulations, Crystal! We wish you the very best in your new life.
